TGjr. won the school

Oh my! :)
I am sooooo very proud of her!
TGjr. - my little "honey" bee!
Now... next is the County Spelling Bee on March 10, 2007!
The winner from that Bee goes on to the Scripps National Spelling Bee in Washington, D.C., with paid airfare and hotel accommodations for the speller and an escort.
How exciting!!!!
She now wants to watch the movie "Spellbound". Yikes! I don't even want to watch it - it says it is a "nail-biter"! LOL!
I suppose this will open her eyes (as well as mine), cause read what the movie is about:
"Every spring since 1925, Scripps Howard newspapers sponsor spelling bees at grade schools across the U.S. Ten million kids competed in 1999.
Who would have thought that a documentary about spelling-bee contestants could be as suspenseful as a Hitchcock thriller? Spellbound, which follows eight kids from their early victories in regional spelling bees to the national competition in Washington, D.C., is an out-and-out nail-biter.
Each of the kids--who range from a quietly driven African American girl from a run-down D.C. neighborhood, to a genial Connecticut girl who talks about bringing her au pair to a previous competition, to an almost zombie-like boy whose immigrant father has paid 1,000 people back in India to pray for the boy's success--gets captured so vividly that you can't help but get emotionally immersed in their brave, nerve-wracking struggle to spell slippery, treacherous words.
Along the way, Spellbound contrasts the crazily different populations that make up the U.S. and shows how this facet of intelligence truly makes everyone equal on the podium. A riveting, wrenching, must-see movie." --Bret Fetzer
Congratulations again, baby!
(I know how hard
you worked on this!)
xoxo

So... what was the word that your daughter had to spell to clinch the victory??
I've seen Spellbound more than once... I thought it was pretty good.
Des,
LOL! I will have to ask her!
Excellent! Congrats to mother and daughter.
Richard,
Thank you for stopping by! It is always so nice to hear from you! :)
I have heard the movie was good as well. I guess we are going to be watching it this evening.
May I ask why you watched it more than once?
Thank you Brian! I will pass along your congratulations to her! :)
TG jr. keep up the awesome work!!!!!!!!!
:)
congrats.
You have that movie Starbucks was plugging also. (Akeela)?
Good Luck TG Jr
Adam,
Thank you for thecongrats. I will pass them on to her.
She has seen the Akeelah and the Bee movie, but it was not a true life story like Spellbound.
Wanna hear something funny? She told me that the winner of the D.C. Bee gets a trophy and 50k in cash! wow! She said she is going to use the money to get into Stanford or U.C. Berkeley. LOL!
She seems a bit confident... too confident, imo. I think this movie will take away some of that cockiness! LOL!
Des,
I have been thinking about your initial question on this, and I seriously do not know why she didn't tell me! I will find out the word today, as I forgot to ask her before school this morning.
I saw it more than once because I wanted to see it again. Which, when you think about it, is the best possible re-watching scenario; superior by far to the accidental re-watching, or having evil documentary-loving stepsisters, or whatever.
Richard,
That is the perfect answer to my question!
I rarely watch a movie more than once. And when I do, it means that I really enjoyed it (whether it be a happy or sad movie), so that was part of my wondering about you saying you had seen it more than once.
Now... let me ask you. What is your all-time favorite movie? And how many times have you seen it?
WAY TO GO TGjr! Good luck on the next round!
You must be so proud TG!
Laura,
LOL! - "next round"!
She has won 14 rounds so far just to get to here! (man, am I beat lol!).
This District Bee will be interesting. She is looking forward to it.
And thanks for the congrats and the luck. I will pass that on to her.
:)
Congrats TG and TG jr! And I hope she wins the District Bee :)
I don't know what my all-time favorite is, since my tastes keep changing. I've seen Amadeus countless times. Maybe that's it, except I rarely feel like watching it anymore. I loved 'Lost in Translation', and 'The Prizewinner of Defiance, Ohio'. I put on 'Ghost World' often when I just want to be a vegetable for a while. So, i dunno.
Tonight I'm going to watch Marie Antoinette (the 2006 version), and whenever netflix gets it to me, I'm going to see the 1938 version with Norma Shearer.
clarification: I'm not going to watch the 1938 version with Norma Shearer. I mean, she's dead, for one thing, so she would likely be a smelly and/or slimy guest in the best case, not to mention unearthing the body would be time-consuming and disrespectful to her family. Rather, I'm going to watch the 1938 version of the movie by myself, which features the (then living, and probably decent-smelling) Norma Shearer prominently. Sorry for any confusion.
Oh geez TG, I bet you are exhausted.
About as exhausted as I was trying to get my son out of high school. We actually had to discuss why he could not take Japanese 3 his senior year. BECAUSE you have to TAKE and PASS English 2 and 3 to graduate!!!! My God son, this is your native language!
Okay, sorry, lol. Rant off.
HOLEY BUCKETS! Congrats to TGjr.
When it comes to spelling, I'm glad God created the spell checker. Phew.
Simply Options,
Thank you! I will pass along your congrats and best wishes!
:)
btw, I see that I accidently left you off my blogroll, and wanted to let you know I have made the addition. :)
Richard,
Yes.... I was quite confused and a word that started off with "necro" came to mind. HAHAHAHAHAHA
A BIG thank you for clearing that up! whew!
btw, Richard,
I would watch Spellbound again as well.
We have a lot in common - mebbe one of these days you will realize it before I turn into Norma Shearer. ;)
Laura,
Feel free to rant away! It helps, imo, to "get it out" so it doesn't stew and build up.
I had a bit of bad news last night from my son. He told me he is not going to college this semester because he needs to work F/T and pay off his debt. I said "What debt? You don't even have a credit card!".....
*sigh*
*big sigh*
Mucky,
Is "spell checker" one word or two?
HAHAHAAHAHAHAH!
TG, thanks for the add. But looks like you've given me double exposure, lol! which I don't mind really :P
Simply Options,
LOL! Looks I got a bit excited there! hehehehe
