Plains All American Pipeline, L.P., through its subsidiaries, engages in the transportation, storage, terminalling, and marketing of crude oil, refined products, and liquefied petroleum gas and other natural gas-related petroleum products (LPG) in the United States and Canada. The company operates in three segments: Transportation, Facilities, and Marketing. The Transportation segment transports crude oil and refined products on pipelines and gathering systems. As of December 31, 2006, this segment had approximately 20,000 miles of active pipelines and gathering systems; 30 million barrels of tank capacity; 57 transport and storage barges; and 30 transport tugs. The Facilities segment provides storage, terminalling, and throughput services for crude oil, refined products, and LPG, as well as LPG fractionation and isomerization services. The Marketing segment purchases and sells refined products and LPG from producers, refiners, and other marketers. It owns approximately 30 million barrels of above-ground; and 1.3 million barrels of underground terminalling and storage facilities. Plains AAP, L.P. serves as general partner of the partnership. The company was founded in 1998 and is based in Houston, Texas.
