Why Not?

Imagine if we were able to buy paper form stocks on eBay. Someone might want to own 1 share of GOOG and to put it on the wall. It would be one of the best sellers of eBay. Most likely the last bid for most of the stocks will exceed their market value. Now that would be an exciting business. It doesn't necessarily have to happen on eBay. It might be organized on a whole new website. For example something like: ownastock.com. This could be hilarious Christmas present. Many might like to put on their wall a share of the best performing stock of the year. It would be just like a picture on the wall with real value behind it. Imagine you go to visit a friend and see on his living room's wall 0.1% of AAPL.

I would like to hear your thoughts about it. People sell snow on eBay and even lend space of their bodies for advertising purposes. Several years ago one guy sold the space on his forehead for a lofty sum. Why not selling
share certificates of currently traded public companies?

Uhh..there are many companies that have been doing this since even before the internet. Try using google to search.

Single paper stock of Pixar sold for much higher than their street value last year before they went off the exchange.

Well, art is in the eye of the beholder, imo. I would love to have various stock certificates hanging on my walls throughout my house. Cool!

I'm not greedy. Just, say, 100 shares of Birkshire Hathaway A would be more that adequate on my wall...

I have a friend who decided to sell advertising on his "Willy". After signing the SWAN company, he realized he could double up so he added a promo for a province of Canada for big, BIG bucks.

Soooooooooooooooooo, no matter what his 'mood' was he was advertising either "SWAN" or "SASKATCHEWAN" *smirk*

Anon,

Be nice! Are you aware that Ivanhoff is from Bulgaria? Are you aware that he is very young?

Let me ask you this...

Are you happy when you look in the mirror?

Why not open a lemonade stand? Many others have already done it and I don't know how to make the process more cost effective.
I would appreciate if someone give me a link to a single website, where I can purchase a share certificate with my name printed on it from every major publicly traded company around the world. Every share I want, from one single website. I want to have a paper form stock of AAPL from the year of its IPO. I want to be able to order it today and receive it in let's say three days.
I might be wrong and suggesting something that already exists and it's easily accesable. Whenever someone find me such a website, let me know and I will admit that my idea is worthless.
I might be young, but believe me I know what I am talking about. The youth is not a sin, it is not a disadvantage.

Behind every constructive critisism, there should be a suggestion for improvement. The easiest thing in the world is to say that you like something and wash your hands without giving an idea of how to improve it. Or to say that you don't like something without offering an alternative.

Thanks to everyone who took the time to read my idea/question/suggestion.

I wish you profitable trading!

Ivanhoff,

I did not mean to offend you...

I do think that being young has disadvantages. Simply because of time and experience. That is logical, no?

However, every idea has something in it. I love entrepreneurs and people who are constantly thinking of new ideas or a tweak to the "wheel".

I will tell you this story about a lemonade stand... it is a true one.

My daughter wanted to make some money. And she thought to have a lemonade stand. And because she had had lemonade stands in the past, each new time... she changed things.

For instance, she made the sign very bold with markers so it would be readable from a distance.

A next time she drew a picture of a lemon in the lettering of the sign.

And another time she made it into a "Shark Attack" lemonade stand. She did this because during the summer, lemonade stands by kids were a dime a dozen. She wanted an edge.

And so she went to the "party" shop and bought a plastic shark like this one.

When a customer came to order a glass of lemonade, she poured the lemonade in a glass. Then she poured some cherry syrup into the sharks mouth. Then she slowly circled the glass of lemonade while humming the Jaws theme, then faster! and then plunged the shark into the glass of lemonade and moved it all around like a shark attack, thereby bloodying the "water". The customer was thrilled with this! They loved it!

So you see, she had the regular idea, but with this new twist in presentation, she tripled her sales!

:)

So, you should know that I think the youth have an advantage as they are not as close-minded as adults and can think up new products and ideas that an older person may have just shut their mind to.

And you should know that I think you are extremely intelligent and I have no doubt you will succeed in your goals and go far in life. I have complete confidence in that, and have mentioned it in the past.

:)

Here is an interesting site regarding stock certificates.
